Partnership with Parents
Raysfield Pre-school is a registered charity. Once your child begins sessions at Raysfield Pre-School Playgroup your family becomes a member of the group and you are encouraged to play an active role in the running of it. We value the contribution made by parents/carers, who are, after all, the first educators of their children. The pre-school works hard to promote a smooth 2-way process of communication between parents and the setting.
As a charity run pre-school we cannot operate without a committee. The committee is made up of voluntary parent/carers. There are 5 main officers, chair, secretary, treasurer, parent liaison, and fundraiser. Committee elections are held each year at the AGM and regular meetings take place to which all pre-school members are invited. The committee is fundamental to the running of the group. As well as ensuring the smooth running of the group and ensuring the group’s financial well-being, the committee organise fundraising and social events and provide support for families. Meeting dates and venues are flexible to try to accommodate all needs.
If you wish to contact the fundraising committee, they have a separate email to the preschool
If you are interested in a role on the committee, please speak to Donna or Leeanne who will be happy to give you more information or alternatively send us an email.
Members of the committee testimonials
Nic Blaken – Treasurer
“I got more understanding of what goes on and feel like I am more a part of the Pre School. I got to make friends have a laugh and you don’t need experience for the role”
Kayley Burden – Parent Liaison/Fundraiser
“It’s good to know what is going on in and with the Pre School. I also feel like I’m making difference to the children, holding discos for them and fundraising for new equipment and resources. It’s also good meeting other members and having fun”
Kirsty Hutchinson – Chair
“I’ve learned so much about the Pre School and early years education since joining the committee. It’s helped me to support my own children and build a wonderful relationship with the staff. It’s been a fantastic experience and I’ve made some lifelong friends in the process”
Georgina Hitchings – Secretary
“I initially joined as a helper after moving back into the area a few months before my daughter started at the Pre School. I became a member of the committee a few months later and have enjoyed being part of both my daughter and son’s early years education. I have learned a lot about the day to day running of a Pre School, and the support we as parents can give our children at home. I have also met some amazing people, both staff, and parents”
